David Foulke Memorial Garden

In partnership with the David Foulke Memorial Garden, the Dear Neighbor lighted house sculpture highlights the voices of Gowanus neighbors—past and present. Surrounded by native plants, the sculpture honors community memory and invites ongoing connection in this shared green space. It will be exhibited in the garden through the 2025 garden season.

Special thanks to The Brooklyn Queens Land Trust and garden members Irene W. Van Slyke, Nora McCauley, and Timothy Dobday for making this collaboration possible.

Dear Neighbor,

what advice would you give to newcomers moving in?

They should get involved in something in the community. Like one of the community gardens.

Paula Smith

We're part of a big community and you're moving into our neighborhood. You have to be part of the community too.
